Thank you to Laurel for leading the effort and a thank you to all of the dedicated staff and volunteers who made restaurant improvements happen!
Dave Howe, who volunteered himself, had this to say:
I would like to take this opportunity to let the rest of the board know from ” the front line” how much excellent work was done by our staff in the last few weeks. As you all know, due to changes in state health rules, our restaurant had to make multiple upgrades to facilities in order to maintain certification. This involved interior wall repairs, plumbing, new flooring, paint and all the cleaning necessitated by moving the fixtures in and out. First the contractor to perform the repairs had to be engaged and resulted in 2 bids, one almost 5 times the other. The lowest bidder was accepted for their bid and the fact that they were local. Next a schedule was set up for a one week closure in June to allow all the work to be done. Both Laurel and Ernie worked for about 2 weeks setting up all the time, materials and employees necessary to ensure that it would happen. As it happened, our part of the procedure went on schedule but opening was delayed due to the contractor experiencing delays in performance. The staff went beyond the call in helping with the painting, cleaning and anything else that could be done. Along with these upgrades they completed the murals on the walls, upgraded the counters and paint in the serving areas and generally made the front customer area look great. Immediately following all this, the scheduled shutdown of the main water supply tank for cleaning, sandblasting and re-coating was started. This was a highly involved process as the tank had to be emptied and ready for the contractors while still allowing continued operation of the system for use. This was accomplished by running the Smith well continuously for almost a week and regulating the overall pressure by manually opening valves daily to maintain acceptable limits. Both Laurel and Ernie worked 15 a straight days of more hours than anyone could ask for to see that this all happened without incident.

Your opinion matters!
At the next Board meeting in April 2015, the Directors will be discussing our policy relating to physical attendance of Directors at the four quarterly meetings. The issue came up at the January 2015 meeting when a Director was unable to attend the meeting and telephoned in. At that time, we allowed the Director to participate but stated it was not to be considered a precedent.
We have had a few emails from property owners expressing their opinion on this issue. Some comments suggest POATRI governing documents imply that Directors must attend in person or be counted as absent. In the past, this has been our practice.
We want to hear from you! Please let us know your opinion. We also welcome your comments regarding what you think is the number one concern facing POATRI and what you think the Board’s focus should be this year.
We are still looking for volunteers for the Budget and Finance Committee and the Audit Committee. Some knowledge or experience with bookkeeping is preferred. If you would like to volunteer, please email Linda at Linda.firstname.lastname@example.org or me at email@example.com.

Thank you to everyone who voted in the recent Board of Directors election. The new Directors, Frank Oxsheer, Kathy Pothier, and Linda Shank were seated for a full nine-member Board. New officers were elected: Marilynn Anthenat, President; Mike Smith, Vice-president; Kathy Pothier, Secretary; and Linda Shank, Treasurer.
The Board held a conference call on February 14th to review and conditionally approve the 2015 budget. Look for details in the next quarterly report.
Mike Smith and Frank Oxsheer were appointed to act as liaisons with the new legal firm approved at the January meeting.
The Budget and Finance Committee members, led by Linda Shank as Chairperson, welcome back Ed Marcato and Merrill Jordan, and our newest member, Dean Willis.
We are still looking for volunteers for the Audit Committee. Some knowledge or experience with bookkeeping is preferred. If you would like to volunteer, please email Linda Shank at firstname.lastname@example.org or me at email@example.com.
